Перед всенощным бдением Крест при пении тропаря и кондака праздника переносится с жертвенника на престол.
На великой вечерне «Блажен муж» не поется. Прокимен великий, глас 7-й: «Бог наш на Небеси и на земли…».
На утрене полиелей (по традиции, совершается в алтаре). Величание: «Величаем Тя, Живодавче Христе, и чтим Крест Твой Святый, имже нас спасл еси от работы вражия» (поется в алтаре; там же читается Евангелие). После Евангелия поется «Воскресение Христово видевше». По 50-м псалме: «Слава» – «Молитвами апостолов…», «И ныне» – «Молитвами Богородицы…». «Честнейшую» не поем, но поем припевы праздника. 1-й припев: «Величай, душе́ моя, Пречестны́й Крест Господень». После великого славословия – вынос Креста и поклонение ему. В соборных и, по благоусмотрению настоятеля, в приходских и монастырских храмах совершается чин воздвижения Креста.
В конце утрени и на литургии отпуст: «Христо́с, И́стинный Бог наш, моли́твами Пречи́стыя Своея́ Ма́тере, си́лою Честна́го и Животворя́щаго Креста́…»*.
На литургии антифоны праздника, вхо́дный стих: «Возноси́те Господа Бога нашего и покланяйтеся подножию но́гу Его, яко свято есть». Вместо Трисвятого – «Кресту Твоему…». Вместо «Достойно» – «Величай, душе́… Таин еси…» (до отдания).
С этого дня до отдания Воздвижения на литургии по входе (в седмичные дни): «Приидите, поклони́мся… Спаси ны, Сыне Божий, плотию распныйся…».
Крест относится в алтарь по отпу́сте литургии в день отдания праздника.
- Существует практика отпуст на Воздвижение начинать словами: «Воскресый из мертвых…».

Before the All-Night Vigil, the Cross is transferred from the Table of Oblation to the Holy Table during the singing of the troparion and kontakion for the feast.
At Great Vespers, «Blessed is the Man» is not sung. Great Prokeimenon, Tone 7: «Our God in Heaven and on earth…»
At Matins, the Polyeleos (traditionally performed in the altar). Magnification: «We magnify Thee, O Life-Giving Christ, and we honor Thy Holy Cross, by which Thou hast saved us from the bondage of the enemy» (sung in the altar; the Gospel is also read there). After the Gospel, «Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ» is sung. According to Psalm 50: «Glory» – «By the prayers of the Apostles…»; «Both now» – «By the prayers of the Theotokos…» We do not sing «More Honorable,» but we sing the refrains of the feast. 1st refrain: «Magnify, O my soul, the most precious Cross of the Lord.» After the Great Doxology, the Cross is brought out and venerated. In cathedral churches and, at the discretion of the rector, in parish and monastery churches, the Rite of the Exaltation of the Cross is performed.
At the end of Matins and during the Liturgy, the dismissal is: «Christ, our true God, through the prayers of His Most Pure Mother, by the power of the Precious and Life-giving Cross…»*.
At the Liturgy, the antiphons of the feast, the entrance verse: «Exalt ye the Lord our God and worship the footstool of His feet, for they are holy.» Instead of the Trisagion, «To Thy Cross…» Instead of «It is worthy» – «Magnify, O soul… the Mysteries…» (until the end).
From this day until the leave-taking of the Feast of the Exaltation, the Liturgy at the entrance (on weekdays) reads: «Come, let us worship… Save us, O Son of God, crucified in the flesh…»
The cross is brought to the altar after the dismissal of the Liturgy on the day of the leave-taking of the feast.
- There is a practice of beginning the dismissal on the Feast of the Exaltation with the words: «He who rose from the dead…»
