- On August 20 (old style) / September 2 (new style) 1953, the finding and translation of the relics of St. Nectarius of Aegina, Metropolitan of Pentapolis, the Wonderworker, took place.
In connection with this event, a special celebration in honor of the Translation of the Relics of St. Nectarius of Aegina (Ἀνακομιδὴ Τιμίων Λειψάνων Ἁγίου Νεκταρίου Πενταπόλεως τοῦ Θαυματουργοῦ) has become widespread in Orthodox Churches of Greek tradition, celebrated annually on September 3 (new style).
