Святой преподобный Максим Исповедник писал, что в 31-й год царствования императора Ираклия, то есть в 641 году по Р. Х., был 6133 год от сотворения мира (от Адама). Что, когда родился Иисус, «был 5501 год, согласно записи на священных дощечках лет, считаемых от Адама.» Вероятно, в храмах записывали какой год от сотворения мира и от Адама. В Риме в VII–VIII вв. аналогичным образом на так называемых церах записывался год от Воскресения Христова.
