Вообще, с почитанием западных святых надо быть очень осторожным. Ересь на Западе возникла гораздо раньше Великого Раскола 1054 года.
Согласно «Православной богословской энциклопедии» под ред. проф. А. П. Лопухина, епископ Элигий был строго православным по своим воззрениям.
При этом сам Элигий почитается как святой Римско-Католической Церкви, епископ Нуайона (641–660).

Учение о филиокве — это ложный догмат. Это — ересь! В православном Никейском Символе веры нет такого упоминания. Даже в Евангелии сказано, что Дух Святой исходит от Господа Бога Отца.
Еретики латиняне были еще в 4 веке или даже еще во 2 веке.

Christianity first came to the Netherlands in the 4th century, when Saint Servatius (who died in 384) became the first bishop in what is now Holland. But with the departure of the Romans in the 5th century, Christianity also disappeared from these lands.
